The Ràfol d’Almúnia is a town located in the valley of the river Girona, in the skirt of the Sierra de Segaria; belongs to the district of Marina Alta (north of Alicante). Its municipal area covers an area of 4.9 km2 and an altitude of 88 m. It is 96 km away. of Alicante and 100 of Valencia. It is 12 km away from the beach and has 703 inhabitants today ( INE 2024).
It is the historic capital of the Marina Alta area known as La Rectoria, formed by Sanet y Negrals, Benimeli, El Ràfol d’Almúnia, Sagra and Tormos; It has an abundant autochthonous vegetation, hills and valleys where orange trees have traditionally been cultivated.
It is the classic Mediterranean rural town, where the visitor can find all kinds of services: bars, restaurants, shops … Its people are characterized by their kindness and hospitality, with an open character, due to the Mediterranean culture and climate; they enjoy life and its surroundings to the fullest, transmitting this way of life.
The patron saint festivities take place every year in August and they deserve a visit.
The airports of Alicante and Valencia are less than 100 km away, which together with its excellent communication routes (AP-7 and N-332), means that it takes about an hour to reach the population from any of those two airports.
